Quick Answer: What is granite installation in Abu Dhabi?Granite installation is measuring and templating your cabinets, cutting granite slabs to shape, polishing the edges, cutting openings for sinks and hobs, then fitting, joining and sealing the stone on site. ALHUD Technical LLC fits granite worktops, vanity tops, window sills and stair surfaces in villas, apartments and commercial spaces.

Granite Installation in Abu Dhabi

Granite is a hard, heat-tolerant natural stone, and it remains a popular choice for kitchen worktops and vanity tops. It resists scratches and hot pans better than many materials, and no two slabs look the same. The result depends on precise measuring, careful cutting and a level fit. ALHUD Technical LLC provides granite installation for villas, apartments, shops and offices across Abu Dhabi.

Stone is heavy, expensive and unforgiving. A cut cannot be undone, so measurement and planning at the start matter more than at any other stage.

Where Granite Is Used

  • Kitchen worktops, islands and breakfast bars
  • Bathroom vanity tops and surrounds
  • Window sills and thresholds
  • Stair treads and risers
  • Fireplace surrounds and wall features
  • Bar counters and reception desks
  • Outdoor kitchens and barbecue areas

Granite is often chosen as part of a wider kitchen project; see our kitchen renovation page for how the stages fit together.

Choosing Granite: Colour, Pattern and Finish

Granite varies widely in colour and pattern, from fine speckled types to bold veined slabs. Choose in person if you can, because small samples do not show how the pattern moves across a full slab. Think about the cabinets, the floor and the light in the room, and how much movement in the stone you like.

  • Polished finish: glossy and reflective, the most common worktop finish
  • Honed finish: matt and softer-looking, but can show marks more easily
  • Leathered finish: textured and good at hiding fingerprints
  • Edge profiles: straight, bevelled, rounded or bullnose, each giving a different look

Darker stone shows dust and water marks more, while lighter stone may show stains more. We bring samples and advise on how each finish behaves in daily use.

Templating: Where Accuracy Begins

Templating is the measuring stage after the cabinets are fixed. We record the exact outline, including walls that are not straight, openings for sinks and hobs, and overhangs. The slab is then cut to match. Templates must be taken after the cabinets are level and fixed, which is why timing matters in a renovation.

If cabinets are changed after templating, the stone no longer fits. Tell us if any change is planned, and we will wait for the final layout. Our cabinet installation team can coordinate this with the cabinet fitting.

Cutting, Joints and Edges

Granite slabs have limited sizes, so long runs and corners need joints. We position joints where they are least visible, such as near sinks or corners, and match the pattern at the join as well as the stone allows. Sink and hob cut-outs are cut with care, with support so the stone does not crack, because thin sections near cut-outs are the weakest points.

Sealing and Care

Granite is dense, but it is not entirely non-porous. Many types benefit from sealing so oils and liquids do not mark the surface. We seal after fitting and advise how often to reseal. Wipe spills quickly, use a mild cleaner designed for stone and avoid acidic or abrasive products. Use trivets and chopping boards, because hot pans are generally tolerated by granite but sudden extremes are best avoided.

How a Granite Installation Job Works

  1. Site visit and selection. We look at the project, discuss stone, finish and edge, and agree the layout.
  2. Quote. You get the scope and the price, based on the slab and the amount of cutting.
  3. Templating. After cabinets are fixed, we template the run and mark cut-outs.
  4. Fabrication. The stone is cut, edges are shaped and polished, and cut-outs are made.
  5. Fitting. The stone is lifted into place, levelled, joined and fixed with adhesive.
  6. Sealing and finish. Joints are filled, the stone is sealed and silicone is applied at edges.

The gap between templating and fitting depends on the stone and the workload, and we tell you the expected timing so you can plan.

Granite and Other Surfaces

Granite is one of several worktop options. Quartz is engineered, more uniform and less porous. Marble is softer and more porous, with a classic look. Solid surface can be joined so the seams are barely visible. For floors and walls in stone-look finishes, see our floor tiling page. We help you compare options by use, cost and upkeep.

What Affects the Cost of Granite Installation

  • The stone type and slab grade
  • The area and the number of joints
  • Edge profile and finishing
  • Cut-outs for sinks, hobs and taps
  • Removal of the old worktop
  • Access, such as stairs and lift size
  • Splashbacks and upstands

We confirm the price after the site visit and stone selection. Photos of the kitchen and rough measurements on WhatsApp help us give a first estimate. For wider home projects, see our villa renovation page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is granite good for Abu Dhabi kitchens?

Yes. It is hard, heat-tolerant and long-lasting. Sealing and normal care keep it looking good, and the wide range of colours suits most kitchens.

How long does granite installation take?

Fabrication and fitting take time, often from templating to fitting in a matter of days to weeks depending on the stone and workload. We give you a timeline after the site visit.

Do I need to seal granite?

Many granite types benefit from sealing to resist oils and stains. We seal after fitting and advise how often to repeat it.

Can granite chip or crack?

Edges can chip with impact, and thin sections near cut-outs are vulnerable. Proper cutting, support and edge profiles reduce the risk.

Can you remove my old worktop?

Yes. We can remove and dispose of the old worktop before templating the new one.

Will there be visible joints?

Long runs and corners need joints, but we position them in the least visible places and match the pattern as closely as the stone allows.

Do you fit granite vanity tops?

Yes. We template, cut and fit vanity tops with the basin cut-outs and sealing needed for wet areas.
