Real indoor comfort in the UAE depends on both temperature and humidity control working together, not just a lower thermostat setting. A correctly sized, well-maintained AC system typically achieves comfortable humidity around 40–50% alongside the target temperature.
A room set to 22°C with 70% humidity feels noticeably less comfortable, and often actually warmer, than the same room at the same temperature with humidity closer to 45%. Chasing comfort by lowering the thermostat further, without addressing humidity, tends to increase electricity use without solving the underlying discomfort.
The AC system needs to be sized to the room's actual heat and moisture load, not oversized for a faster temperature drop, since oversizing is one of the most common reasons dehumidification suffers. Regular maintenance also matters here, since a dirty coil loses much of its ability to condense moisture out of the air even while still cooling reasonably well.
Rooms with unusually high moisture load, such as those near a kitchen, bathroom, or with poor ventilation, sometimes need a supplementary dehumidifier even with a correctly sized and maintained AC system. This is more the exception than the rule, and it's worth ruling out a sizing or maintenance issue first.
