Made-to-measure entrance, interior and wardrobe doors, designed around your opening and built by carpenters who work in Abu Dhabi homes every week.
Most doors in Abu Dhabi homes come from a showroom, and most of them fit well enough. The trouble starts when the opening is not standard: a double-height villa entrance, a bedroom door that has to line up with a built-in wardrobe, or an apartment where the floor level changed after the handover. That is where custom made doors earn their cost. ALHUD Technical LLC designs, builds and fits made-to-measure doors for villas, apartments, offices and shops across the emirate, and the same carpentry team handles the frame, the hardware and the final adjustment.
A custom door is not automatically a luxury item. Sometimes it is simply the only way to get a door that closes properly, matches the room and does not leave a gap you can see light through.
Walls in Abu Dhabi buildings are rarely perfectly square. Blockwork, plaster and screed all move a little during construction, and by the time you move in, a standard 2.1 metre door may be a few millimetres out in one corner. A made-to-measure door is cut to the real opening, so the gap around it stays even from top to bottom.
The second reason is style. Villa developers in Khalifa City, Al Raha and Mohammed Bin Zayed City often use one door design throughout, and it can look flat once you want a statement entrance or a wider bedroom door. A custom door lets you change the panel layout, the grain direction, the handle position and the finish without changing the whole house.
The brief decides the construction. These are the door types people ask us for most often:
If you already have a frame in good condition, we can often build the door leaf only and fit it with our door installation team, which keeps the job smaller and quicker.
Timber reacts to its surroundings, and Abu Dhabi gives it a hard test. Outside, a sun-facing entrance can sit in direct heat for hours. Inside, an air-conditioned room is cool and dry while the corridor or balcony next to it may be warm and humid. Doors that move between those two conditions can swell, shrink or warp if the wrong material is used or the surface is left unsealed.
That is why we talk through the position of the door before we talk about the finish. Solid timber looks and feels the best, but it needs sound sealing on all faces and is not always the right choice for a wet or coastal location. Engineered and veneered constructions are more stable for wider leaves and for rooms where the temperature swings, and good lacquer or paint adds a second layer of protection.
Coastal homes on Saadiyat, Yas Island and along the Corniche also deal with salt in the air, which marks cheap hinges and handles early. We specify hardware with that in mind and tell you when a cheaper part will not last.
The process is short and the same for a single door or a whole villa. We keep the sequence clear so you always know what is happening next.
Because the finishing happens off site, your property stays cleaner than it would with on-site cutting and spraying. Installation day is usually short and quiet.
Many door problems start with a small measuring mistake. The floor finish is the classic one: if tiles, wood flooring or carpet are laid after the door is made, the door may catch. We measure to the finished floor level whenever we can, and when the floor is not down yet we mark that on the order and leave a clearance.
Timber also needs room to move. We leave a small, even gap around the leaf so seasonal swelling does not make the door stick in the humid months. If your wall or frame is damaged, we tell you before building, because a perfect door in a crooked frame will never close well. If the flooring is about to change, our floor carpentry team can plan the two jobs together.
A good door still feels poor if the hardware is wrong. Hinges carry the full weight, so heavier leaves need more of them, and a main entrance needs a lock that suits both the door thickness and the frame. We fit the lock you choose or supply a suitable one, and we line up the strike plate so the latch closes without force.
If an existing lock is stiff or a key sticks, our lock repair service can look at it separately.
Decorative glass inserts can be arranged through our glass installation team.
Doors rarely stand alone. In a villa renovation, they sit next to fitted wardrobes, kitchen units and skirting, and a mismatch in colour or grain shows immediately. Because our carpenters build the doors and the joinery, we can finish them from the same samples. For wardrobes and kitchens, see our cabinet installation page.
Offices and shops get the same finishing approach, so our custom made reception desks match the doors around them.
We work across Abu Dhabi island, Khalifa City, Al Raha, Al Reem Island, Yas Island, Saadiyat Island, Mohammed Bin Zayed City and Mussafah. Villas are the most common job, followed by apartment renovations and office fit-outs. If you are planning a whole-home upgrade, the same crew can coordinate with our villa renovation team so the doors arrive when the walls and floors are ready.
In towers and managed communities, you may need approval from building management before bringing materials or doing noisy work. Check the rules first, and tell us the building and floor when you call so we can plan access and timing.
We do not quote from a catalogue because the cost depends on the job. These are the things that move it up or down:
Send us photos and approximate sizes on WhatsApp and we can give you a clear idea of the next step. The exact price is confirmed after the site visit.
A little care keeps timber doors looking good for years. Wipe them with a soft, slightly damp cloth rather than a soaking one. Keep an eye on the bottom edge near wet floors, because that is where water enters first. If the lock or handle starts to feel loose, tighten it early, and call door repair if a door starts rubbing or sticking, since small adjustments are cheap and neglected ones are not.

Doors are one part of a joinery project. Browse our furniture and carpenter page for the full range, or call us to talk through what you need.
A standard door comes in fixed sizes and styles. A custom made door is built to your measurements, finish and hardware, so it fits uneven openings and matches the rest of your joinery.
It depends on the design, the finish and the number of doors. After the site visit and design are confirmed, we give you a timeline for the build and the fitting day.
Usually yes. We take a sample of the colour and grain or a photo of the existing door, then build and finish the new door to blend in. Exact matching of old finishes can vary, so we show you a sample first.
It depends on the location. Solid timber suits protected interiors, engineered or veneered construction is more stable for large leaves, and moisture-resistant boards suit kitchens and bathrooms. We recommend after seeing the door position.
Yes. We build entrance doors, room doors, wardrobe doors and utility doors for villas, apartments, offices and shops across Abu Dhabi.
Often we can, provided the frame is straight and sound. If the frame is damaged or out of line, we will tell you before building and quote the frame work separately.
Some towers and managed communities require approval for materials access and noisy work. Check with your building management or developer, and tell us the building details so we can plan the visit.
